Lap Band Procedure
The lap band procedure does not require cutting the stomach, stapling or moving your gastrointestinal tract. Your tolerance for sweet sugar foods is not changed. However, you are suscepible to nutritional deficiency if you do not eat healthy foods or simply forget to eat at all by skipping a meal. A silicone ring is placed around the upper part of the stomach and filled with saline which makes a small pouch that limits your food intake. The lap band surgeon can change the stomach size by adding or subtracting saline, and adjustments can be done without surgery.
